Baseball Game Preview: Grant County Braves vs. Paintsville Tigers

The Grant County Braves will face off against the Paintsville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grant County 3.5, Paintsville 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Grant County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Dayton as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Braylon Rodriguez was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Grant County: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Seth Tucker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Grant County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Paintsville posted their closest win since April 8th on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Johnson Central.

Paintsville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Grant County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
