Basketball Recap: Willamina Falls to Gervais in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Willamina had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gervais Cougars. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Verdino, who posted ten points along with seven steals and six boards. Another player making a difference was Ben Moore, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Willamina will face off against Yamhill-Carlton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gervais, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
