Recap: Rock Creek Academy Lions vs. Whitefield Academy Wildcats
The Rock Creek Academy Lions lost against the Whitefield Academy Wildcats back in January of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Rock Creek Academy's rough 62-42 loss to Whitefield Academy might stick with them for a while. Rock Creek Academy has not had much luck with Whitefield Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitefield Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noel Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwynnie Franz, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assists.
Rock Creek Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Whitefield Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Rock Creek Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against West Washington at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully West Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday. Whitefield Academy is on the road again on Saturday and play against Wayne County at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Wayne County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Whitefield Academy is ranked 34th).
