Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Torrey Pines Falcons
Two dominant players in Jake Hall and Matin Madadkar are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Carlsbad Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Torrey Pines Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carlsbad comes in on ten and Torrey Pines on four.
Carlsbad stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sage Creek 84-55 on the road. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Carlsbad had established a 26 point advantage.
In what's become a running theme this season, Torrey Pines gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-44 victory over El Camino at home. Given Torrey Pines' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while El Camino is ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Madadkar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Kail, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Carlsbad pushed their record up to 20-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Torrey Pines, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Carlsbad didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Torrey Pines in their previous matchup on January 9th, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlsbad since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
