Basketball Recap: Marietta Comes Up Short

Marietta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 70-44 to the Wheeler Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 99-52 back in December of 2024.

Marietta's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Wheeler, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Marietta won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Campbell at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wheeler, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wheeler knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Newton likes a good challenge.
