The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers will head out to take on the Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Legion Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Legion Collegiate Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Pro Stock Royals Academy. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Coalson Williams tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He also allowed six hits, marking his first of the season.
On the hitting side, Legion Collegiate Academy let Justin Iannetto and Andres Lopez run wild. Iannetto went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Lopez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Lopez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Pond, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Metrolina Christian Academy's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Charlotte Christian on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over SouthLake Christian Academy. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Metrolina Christian Academy also got a great performance from Case Gibbs as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Gibbs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abram Hargett, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Alex Lerch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Metrolina Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as SouthLake Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .250.
Metrolina Christian Academy pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their record is now 11-6.
