Baseball Recap: Lansing Catholic Starts Season with Win on the Road

Lansing Catholic had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Olivet Eagles with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Drew Tolfree looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Levi Holman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Noah Jungwirth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lansing Catholic will square off against rival Sexton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Olivet is set to face off against their familiar foe Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
