Basketball Game Preview: Windward Wildcats vs. Millikan Rams

The Windward Wildcats will challenge the Millikan Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Windward knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Millikan likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Windward earned a 61-49 victory over Centennial.

Meanwhile, Millikan came up short against Long Beach Poly on Friday and fell 59-47. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 36th).

Windward will need focus on slowing down Jeremiah Hunt, one of several Millikan players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points. The game was Hunt's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tariq Bridges, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Windward pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Millikan, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Windward was able to grind out a solid victory over Millikan in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, winning 81-69. Does Windward have another victory up their sleeve, or will Millikan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
