Softball Game Preview: Liberty Indians vs. Cornwall Central Dragons

The Liberty Indians will square off against the Cornwall Central Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Liberty is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games on Friday. They lost 28-16 to O'Neill. Even though they lost, the Indians' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Liberty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giuliana Wagner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Madelynn Stewart was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cornwall Central made easy work of Washingtonville on Friday and carried off a 15-6 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Cornwall Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
