South Grand Prairie extended their winning streak to seven on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-0. They came out on top against Martin by a score of 34-26. The final result isn't all that surprising considering South Grand Prairie's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Martin is ranked 230th).

South Grand Prairie had a senior duo take command as Josiah Lucas rushed for 175 yards and three TDs and Daylon Brooks rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. Those 114 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Brooks.

As for Martin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against South Grand Prairie since Thursday.

Martin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javian Jones-Priest, who rushed for 140 yards and one score. Jones-Priest was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Chase Devoll was another key passer, throwing for 198 yards on 18 of 31 attempts.

South Grand Prairie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 30-6 win against Haltom on the 31st. As for Martin, they have also already played their next matchup, a 57-14 victory against Sam Houston on the 31st.
