Softball Game Preview: Chilton County Tigers vs. Benjamin Russell Wildcats

The Chilton County Tigers will square off against the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Benjamin Russell will be up against a hot Chilton County team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Tigers' way against Calera on Thursday as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th.

Kaylee Dunn made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Dunn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Avree Williams was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Brianna Goggins was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Benjamin Russell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Tallassee 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Chapman, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Arionna Ware, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Chilton County's win bumped their record up to 27-6-2. As for Benjamin Russell, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13-1.

Chilton County came out on top in a nail-biter against Benjamin Russell in their previous meeting last Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
