Softball Recap: Erie Falls Short Against Ranked Columbine

Erie faced Columbine in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers fell 16-13 to the Rebels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 15-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Molly Young was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Haylie Rossetti was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Erie and nudges their season record down to 6-2. As for Columbine, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Erie has already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Silver Creek on the 2nd. As for Columbine, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-6 win against Eaglecrest on the 4th.
