Baseball Recap: Lyman Comes Up Short

Lyman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Brantley Patriots. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Connor Cook was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Lyman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Johnson a new career-high. Kevin Cusick was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Lyman's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lake Brantley, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

Coming up, Lyman will square off against Winter Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Winter Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Lyman's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Brantley, they will face off against Bishop Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Brantley is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Bishop Moore a seven-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
