Softball Recap: Upsala Takes a Loss

Upsala fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Milaca on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Zoey Leners was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lydia Kokett made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs.

Upsala has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Milaca, their record is now 2-19.

Upsala has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 victory against Paynesville on the 14th. As for Milaca, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 loss against St. Cloud Cathedral on the 14th.
