Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lubbock-Cooper). They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Frenship Tigers 57-56. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 51-42 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Ryan Rodriguez Jr had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 483 yards and five touchdowns. Those 483 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Chamayne Johnson Jr also helped with four TDs in total.

When it comes to explaining why Frenship lost on Friday, don't look at Chase Campbell. Despite the final result, he picked up 160 receiving yards and four scores, and also rushed for 33 yards and one touchdown. Hayden Wilson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 109 receiving yards.

The win was the third in a row for Lubbock-Cooper, bringing their record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Frenship, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Lubbock-Cooper will head out to face off against Plainview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Frenship, they will host Midland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
