Soccer Game Preview: Clinton vs. Lafayette

The Clinton Arrows will take on the Lafayette Commodores at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lafayette better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Clinton's game on Saturday is any indication, that's when Clinton really gets things going. The Arrows' defense stepped up to hand South Jones a 3-0 shutout. Clinton's winning goal came courtesy of Kayla Jones.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lafayette and North Pontotoc, and Lafayette kept the tradition alive. The Commodores put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 7-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for Lafayette in their matchups with North Pontotoc: they've now won seven in a row.

Clinton's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Clinton came out on top in a nail-biter against Lafayette when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Arrows since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
