Softball Preview: South Amboy Governors vs. Carteret Ramblers

The South Amboy Governors will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Carteret Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, South Amboy came up short against South River and fell 12-8. The loss put an end to the Governors' undefeated start to the season.

Emma Kalantsis led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Pina, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carteret). They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Piscataway on Wednesday.

Trinity Bernadino was incredible, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Arianna King, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Carteret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Carteret's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for South Amboy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
