Recap: Swansboro Pirates vs. White Oak Vikings
This season hasn't been kind to The Swansboro Pirates, who are still winless after their tenth game. They had to suffer through a rough 42-0 loss at the hands of White Oak. Swansboro has struggled against White Oak recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading White Oak to victory were Joshua Smith and Tareavion Mageo #4. Smith rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Mageo #4 rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another big playmaker for White Oak was Damarius Hester, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Swansboro's defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 North Brunswick and 7-4 West Carteret (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.5% over those games). As for White Oak, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Swansboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. White Oak will look to defend their home field on Friday against J.H. Rose at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (J.H. Rose is ranked 96th, while White Oak is ranked 94th).
