Basketball Game Preview: Miller City Wildcats vs. Bluffton Pirates

The Miller City Wildcats and the Bluffton Pirates will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Miller City's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Bluffton has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Miller City escaped with a win against Lincolnview by the margin of a single free throw, 36-35. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Lancers are ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bluffton lost 54-34 to Kenton on Saturday.

Miller City's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Bluffton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Miller City beat Bluffton 51-43 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bluffton's Ayla Grandey, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Miller City still be able to contain Grandey? There's only one way to find out.
