Lafayette Jefferson extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Maya Layton. The Bronchos came out on top against the Kokomo Wildkats by a score of 58-47 on Wednesday with plenty of help from Layton, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. She has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last six times she's played.
Several Wildkats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eliana Stewart, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jhordyn Brown, who put up 11 points and six boards.
Lafayette Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Kokomo, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
Coming up, Lafayette Jefferson will square off against Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kokomo, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-43 loss against Culver Academies on the 6th.
