Englewood comes up short despite Dominic Dever's dominant performance

Recap: Englewood Pirates vs. Bennett Tigers

The Englewood Pirates suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-47 walloping at the hands of Bennett. Englewood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.

When it comes to explaining why Englewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominic Dever. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with three steals. Dever is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Soren Singer, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Bennett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Stiers, who scored 19 points. Stiers hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Stiers, who scored 17 points.

Englewood are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10. As for Bennett, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Englewood will take on Sheridan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sheridan is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Bennett, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bruce Randolph at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Bruce Randolph is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
