Football Recap: Silsbee Finds Playoff Glory Versus Sweeny + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Silsbee had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Sweeny Bulldogs with a sharp 48-27 win. 48 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Silsbee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacaleb Johnson led the charge by rushing for 126 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. The Tigers are undefeated when Johnson posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Ty'Zavion Hafford was another major influence, as he rushed for 66 yards and ran in a TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silsbee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 418 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Silsbee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Julian Brown. Levin Powell was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

The win was the third in a row for Silsbee, bringing their record up to 8-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.7 points. As for Sweeny, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
