Recap: Triton Hawks vs. Hoke County Bucks
The Triton Hawks struggled with threes on Friday (the Hoke County Bucks had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Triton received a tough blow as they fell 60-44 to Hoke County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Triton has scored all season.
Triton's loss came despite strong showings from Romello Pegues and Ahmad Morris. Pegues scored 13 points, while Morris scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Cowan, who scored six points.
Hoke County was led to victory by Jaylen Sturdivant and Salah Sutton. Sturdivant scored 17 points along with five rebounds, while Sutton scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Sutton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Triton's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Hoke County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Triton is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Southern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Southern Nash will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Hoke County and Richmond will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Richmond presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hoke County in North Carolina (Richmond is ranked 28th, while Hoke County is ranked 209th).
