Bagdad had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Wickenburg Wranglers. The Sultans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wranglers, too.

Destry Owings made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Owings was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dj Gramanz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Nick Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Bagdad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wickenburg only posted a batting average of .267.

Wickenburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Bagdad and Wickenburg will both be playing Santa Cruz Valley the next time they take the field. Bagdad will head out to face Santa Cruz Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Wickenburg will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
