Baseball Recap: Van Nuys Takes a Loss

If Van Nuys was feeling good fresh off their 15-3 takedown of Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves came up short against the Chavez Eagles on Friday, falling 11-4. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Jonathan Garcia made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Van Nuys is 2-1 when Garcia posts three or more hits, but 2-4 otherwise.

Van Nuys now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Chavez, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Coming up, Van Nuys will face off against Sun Valley Magnet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chavez will be paying especially close attention to the Wolves' matchup: after the Wolves face off against the Pioneers, they'll take on Chavez again at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
