Monroeville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mohawk Warriors on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on 20 straight.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (98-93) Monroeville actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 14-25, 15-12.
Addison Homan had an outrageously good game as she had 35 digs and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaci Poths, who had five digs and two aces.
Despite the loss, Mohawk still got an impressive performance from Reese Hoover, who had 39 assists and nine digs.
Monroeville's record is now 22-2. As for Mohawk, with the loss, they broke their ten-match winning streak and moved their record to 20-5.
Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Monroeville and Jackson-Milton will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th. Mohawk does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
