Monroe-Woodbury has gone 7-1 against Washingtonville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Crusaders will welcome the Wizards at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Washingtonville will be up against a hot Monroe-Woodbury squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Crusaders took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 38-6 victory over Pine Bush. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Crusaders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Bushmen are ranked 286th).

ETHAN MALDONADO was his usual excellent self, throwing for 199 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 55 yards on only seven carries. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
Monroe-Woodbury didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut RONALD CHAMBERS. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Washingtonville won against Goshen Central last Friday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Wizards claimed a resounding 35-8 win over Kingston. The Wizards haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Monroe-Woodbury better keep an eye on Brennan Tesseyman. He was instrumental in Washingtonville's win, rushing for 165 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 100 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Tesseyman is now averaging an impressive 105.4 rushing yards per game.
One reason for the win was Washingtonville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Kingston's QB won't forget Matt Vanderhorst anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Shane Allums was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Monroe-Woodbury's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Washingtonville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Monroe-Woodbury has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 165.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Washingtonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Monroe-Woodbury didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Washingtonville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Wizards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
