Volleyball Recap: Bishop Carroll Falls Short of St. James Academy in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bishop Carroll can now relate to. They fell 2-0 to the St. James Academy Thunder on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.

Their offense was headlined by Sophia Smith and Breckyn Cawood, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Ally Orth and her 13 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Bishop Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 37-2. As for St. James Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, Bishop Carroll and St. James Academy will both be playing Lansing the next time they take the court. The Golden Eagles will head out to face the Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Thunder will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
