Football Game Preview: Mt. St. Michael Academy Mountaineers vs. Nazareth Kingsmen

The Mt. St. Michael Academy Mountaineers will venture away from home to take on the Nazareth Kingsmen at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Nazareth took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. St. Michael Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Mt. St. Michael Academy turned things around against St. Dominic on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Bayhawks.

A big part of Mt. St. Michael Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Jacob Jimenez and his top target Ryan Reid. Jimenez threw for 298 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes while Reid picked up 158 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 158 receiving yards gave Reid a new career-high.

Mt. St. Michael Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Al-Amin Shobayo and Chace Wells.

Meanwhile, Nazareth fell victim to Holy Cross and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a blow against the Knights, falling 44-0. While losing is never fun, the Kingsmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Knights are ranked 213th).

Nazareth's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mt. St. Michael Academy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Everything went Mt. St. Michael Academy's way against Nazareth in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, as Mt. St. Michael Academy made off with a 30-6 win.
