Baseball Recap: Picayune Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Picayune's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Pascagoula on Saturday. Picayune came out on top against Pascagoula by a score of 6-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Parker Helton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Helton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Justin Stockstill was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Franklin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Picayune pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pascagoula, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Picayune will welcome West Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Picayune is facing West Harrison at the right time seeing as West Harrison is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Pascagoula, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hancock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
