Softball Recap: Whiteoak Takes a Loss

Whiteoak extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 14-1 to the Fairfield Lions. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Fairfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Fairfield's part, Kelsie Crowder was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Whitlee Morrow was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Whiteoak will welcome Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield, they will take on McClain at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
