Recap: Champlin Park Rebels vs. Providence Academy Lions
The Champlin Park Rebels suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 88-40 loss at the hands of Providence Academy. While losing is never fun, Champlin Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Providence Academy is ranked third).
Providence Academy found their leader in underclassman Maddyn Greenway, who scored 43 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Greenway has scored at least a third of Providence Academy's points. Emma Millerbernd was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Champlin Park has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Providence Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Champlin Park won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Providence Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Minnehaha Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Minnehaha Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
