Basketball Recap: DMLK Falls to Gateway in First Game of Season

DMLK had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 70-61 to the Gateway Olympians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 61-56 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Gateway found their leader in sophomore Pierce Allan, who went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points and three steals. Nickalus Smith was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

The win got Gateway back to even at 1-1.

DMLK didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-50 defeat against DSST: College View on the 5th. As for Gateway, they will take on Horizon at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
