Basketball Game Preview: Wheeler Eagles vs. Ashland Blue Devils

The Wheeler Eagles will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Ashland Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wheeler is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Friday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost an 85-82 heartbreaker at the hands of Ripley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (63), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ashland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They breezed past Hickory Flat to the tune of 68-28 on Friday. The Blue Devils have beaten the Rebels the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rebels has come to flipping the script.

Ashland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wheeler, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Wheeler took their win against Ashland in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 76-55 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
