Basketball Game Preview: Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils vs. Springville Tigers + How To Watch

The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Springville Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Mortimer Jordan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-55 to Calera. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Mortimer Jordan had strong showings from Mattie Machen, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds, and Kaleah Chatman, who posted 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Machen is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylani Scottland, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, Springville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to Briarwood Christian at home by a 48-34 margin on Tuesday.

Mortimer Jordan now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Springville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Mortimer Jordan couldn't quite finish off Springville when the teams last played back in January and fell 62-59. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
