Softball Game Preview: Marbury Bulldogs vs. McAdory Yellowjackets

The Marbury Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the McAdory Yellowjackets at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Marbury turned things around against Bibb County on Thursday. They blew past the Choctaws 16-6. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Lexie Frost was a standout: she scored four runs while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklan Popwell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Marbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, McAdory got themselves on the board against Bibb County on Friday, but Bibb County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Choctaws with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Yellowjackets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

McAdory got a massive performance out of Kaileigh Forbes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Yarbrough, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

McAdory's win bumped their record up to 16-8-1. As for Marbury, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
