Baseball Game Preview: Cascade Champions vs. Marion County Warriors

The Cascade Champions will take on the Marion County Warriors in a tournament on Thursday. Cascade knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Marion County likes a good challenge.

If Cascade beats Marion County with 14 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Cascade put the hurt on Richland with a sharp 14-4 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Champions in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Jayden Hathcock made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jaxson Milliken and Xykaiah Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Milliken went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Dixon scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Milliken a new career-high in hits. Thomas Demartelaere was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Marion County lost 10-2 to Chattanooga Christian on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Eli Blevins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Tipton, who got no hits from his two at bats.

Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
