Baseball Recap: Cohasset Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Cohasset came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Hull Pirates 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Skippers have posted against the Pirates since May 19, 2021.

Kevin Sweet was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Sweet was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

In other pitching news, Andrew Hanssens looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cohasset is 2-1 when Hanssens allows one or fewer hits, but 3-8 otherwise.

Sweet wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Thornton, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Cohasset's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Hull, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cohasset will take on Martha's Vineyard Regional at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hull, they will challenge Southeastern RVT at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
