Football Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Morse Tigers

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will venture away from home to square off against the Morse Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Hills will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Canyon Hills and Hoover, and Canyon Hills kept the tradition alive. The Rattlers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 27-20 on Saturday.

Canyon Hills found their leader in sophomore Ma'Kahi Fields-Cook, who rushed for 264 yards and four scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Fields-Cook's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards.

Canyon Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Canyon Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Taylon Sheriff and Reece Fogg. Fogg also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Canyon Hills suffered a grim 52-26 defeat to Morse when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Rattlers, Damarion Wright (who rushed for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 111 receiving yards and two TDs) won't be suiting up this time.
