Recap: Silver Valley Trojans vs. Academy for Academic Excellence Knights
The Silver Valley Trojans had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Wednesday. They breezed by Academy for Academic Excellence at home to the tune of 86-38. Considering Silver Valley has won 12 matches by more than 20 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Damien Grundy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with seven steals and five assists. The matchup was his 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasean Phillips, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Silver Valley pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Silver Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Academy of Careers & Exploration focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they will head out on the road to face off against Hesperia Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
