League recap: Estes Park crushed by Cornerstone Christian Academy

Estes Park lost to Cornerstone Christian Academy 55-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Lyons and Ellicott played the most contested game in 1A Metro this week, with Lyons eventually emerging with a 13-12 victory. Logan Watson ran for 58 yards in the win.

Denver Christian's dynamic duo of Tate Kastens and Josh Van Eps proved tough for Calhan to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kastens threw for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns and Van Eps had 106 yards receiving. Simon Becker helped Denver Christian's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 62 yards.

The Crusaders' dynamic duo of Kastens and Van Eps proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Van Eps was the best receiver in the league this week as Denver Christian lost to Calhan.

Kastens put up the best numbers through the air as Troy VandenBroeke's team fell to Clint Mitchell's team.

He was 21-32 with 3 interceptions.

Kastens made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Crusaders fell to the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-4 senior.

Gary Rhoads was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 186 yards as Platte Canyon lost to Calhan. Teammate Colton Hawk added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.

Leading 1A Metro in both passing and receiving yards, the Crusaders' Kastens and Van Eps have proven to be a lethal combination. Kastens has thrown for 257 yards this season, while Van Eps, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 8 catches for 106 yards. Rhoads from the Huskies leads the league in rushing with 186 yards.

Jefferson made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,137 from 11,465. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 26-8 victory over Bishop Machebeuf last week.
