Softball Recap: Liberty Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rampart

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They put the hurt on the Rampart Rams with a sharp 24-14 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Liberty let Charlotte Riffle and Selah Joiner run wild. Riffle fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5, while Joiner went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those five runs gave Joiner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Joiner, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Liberty's record now sits at 10-12. As for Rampart, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will face off against Fountain-Fort Carson at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rampart, they will square off against Doherty at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.68 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
