Baseball Game Preview: Tallassee Tigers vs. Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats

Tallassee is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Trinity Presbyterian is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Tallassee got the win against Percy Julian by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Clay Ingram looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Tallassee got a massive performance out of Bryson Rigsby, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Rigsby has posted since back in March. Brody Wisener was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Trinity Presbyterian took on Chilton County on Monday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 13-8. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Tallassee has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Trinity Presbyterian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

Tallassee was able to grind out a solid win over Trinity Presbyterian when the teams last played back in April of 2017, winning 7-3. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
