Football Game Preview: Perry Maroons vs. Mount St. Mary Rockets

The Perry Maroons will square off against the Mount St. Mary Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Perry is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Blackwell, posting a 45-0 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Perry considering their three-point performance the matchup before.

Perry's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew Kukuk, who rushed for 62 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Kukuk has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Miner, who rushed for 33 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Perry was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mount St. Mary put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 62-14 win over Chisholm. Fans of the Rockets have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Mount St. Mary's win came from a few key players Perry will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jake Allison, who rushed for eight yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Roman Manella, who threw for 244 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Mount St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Perry, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Perry against Mount St. Mary when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-7 victory. Will the Maroons repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
