Football Game Preview: Checotah Wildcats vs. Holland Hall Dutch

Checotah is 0-4 against Holland Hall since November of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Dutch at 7:00 p.m.

Checotah is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Stigler on Friday. The Wildcats lost 35-14 to the Panthers.

Although Checotah took the loss, they still got scores from Jayden Lake and Logan Crawford.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holland Hall). They claimed a resounding 51-21 victory over Eufaula. The high-scoring effort was just what the Dutch needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Holland Hall had a senior duo take command as Trey Burleson threw for 286 yards and six TDs while completing 80% of his passes and Kainon Gibson picked up 175 receiving yards and three scores. Gibson really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.

Holland Hall's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for Checotah, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Checotah and Holland Hall were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but Checotah came up empty-handed after a 33-32 defeat.
