Baseball Recap: North Johnston Takes Down Martin County in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but North Johnston had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Martin County Gators by a score of 7-2. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on five straight.

North Johnston let Daniel Turner and Cameron Willoughby run wild. Turner went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Willoughby earned two runs and three stolen bases. That's the most runs Willoughby has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maurice Love, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

North Johnston's record now sits at 19-7. As for Martin County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.

Looking ahead, North Johnston will square off against Bunn on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Martin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
