Softball Recap: Newport Harbor Has No Trouble Against St. Anthony

Newport Harbor lost to St. Anthony back in February of 2016, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Newport Harbor Sailors were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the St. Anthony Saints. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sailors.

Virginia Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). Peterson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Abby George was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Ally Shaw was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Newport Harbor's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Newport Harbor will face off against Laguna Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Anthony, they will square off against Bishop Montgomery at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
