Football Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Brea Olinda Wildcats + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Sina Saferzadeh and Gavyn Nicholson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Irvine Vaqueros will challenge the Brea Olinda Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Irvine is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Irvine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Quartz Hill get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Brea Olinda's offense rose to the challenge against a Mariners defense that boasted an average of only 14.08 points allowed on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against St. Monica by a score of 41-28.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kolotolu Liti and Brandon Bartell. Liti rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns while Bartell rushed for 71 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing touchdowns Liti has posted since back in September.

Brea Olinda was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

One reason for the win was Brea Olinda's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Carson Tracey and Nolan Santana, who racked up all four sacks between them. Santana has been hot recently, having also posted ten or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Irvine's record is now 9-3. As for Brea Olinda, their record now sits at an identical 9-3.
