Basketball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Monroe was riding high fresh off their 80-37 takedown of Terrell County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Tornadoes fell 80-74 to the Southwest Patriots on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Monroe still got an impressive performance from Brayden Burns, who went 11-for-13 en route to 36 points and eight boards. Burns is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Tristan Terry was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 18 points.

Caron 'CJ' Howard had an outrageously good game for Southwest as he went 11-for-22 to rack up 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Chase Dupree, who posted 20 points and six boards.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Southwest, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will head out to challenge Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwest, they will venture away from home to take on Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on the 8th.
