Basketball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Starts Season with Win Against Duarte

Rio Hondo Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Duarte Falcons 76-16. The win continues a trend for the Kares in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Rio Hondo Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but ALLIE SCOTT led the charge by as she made all 6 shots she took to post 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of LEAH RODRIGUEZ, who went 7-for-8 en route to 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Duarte fell to 2-1.

Rio Hondo Prep will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rosemead at 6:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Duarte, they will head out on the road to challenge Heritage Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
